McLaren has taken the wraps off its LMDh contender that will take the brand back to the top class of prototype racing, beginning in 2027.
The British manufacturer revealed its yet-to-be-named car Saturday morning in the Le Mans manufacturer village, coming on the 30th anniversary of its first-and-only overall win in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the McLaren F1 GTR.
As announced on Friday, United Autosports will operate the pair of Dallara-chassied Hypercar class entires, with former Jaguar Formula E boss James Barclay having been named team principal for the FIA World Endurance Championship effort.
The factory team will be known as McLaren United AS.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown hasn’t ruled out a future IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship effort with the car, which wouldn’t come until 2028 “at the earliest.”
Brown said they expect to begin on-track testing in the first half of next year.
