Toyota has shown the first glimpse of what its upgraded 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship challenger will look like with a series of teaser images.
The Japanese manufacturer published a series of images on social media on Wednesday showing what will likely become the 2026 version of the GR010 Hybrid from various angles, hinting at a radically revised front fascia among other changes.
It follows Toyota confirming during last weekend’s 6 Hours of Fuji round that it has elected to implement an upgrade on a car that has not seen any significant visual changes since its introduction at the dawn of the Hypercar ruleset in 2021.
A two-day test with the revised car is due to take place at Paul Ricard on Oct. 8-9 ahead of the car’s homologation.
The teaser images published by Toyota appear to confirm that the GR010 Hybrid will be restyled to match the design language that has been seen on many of the brand’s road cars in recent years, such as the Crown, Prius and forthcoming RAV4.
Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe vice-chairman Kazuki Nakajima confirmed that at least one Evo joker will be used by the marque for the update, which is also set to include changes to the powertrain and systems to allow the car to make better use of its tires.
Toyota will not be the only Hypercar manufacturer going into the 2026 WEC season with major upgrades, with BMW having already revealed its revised aero package for the M Hybrid V8 and Alpine having confirmed plans for a revised A424.
