Porsche and Cadillac have received weight breaks as part of an LMDh platform Balance of Performance change ahead of this weekend’s FIA World Endurance Championship finale in Bahrain.

Outlined in a document published ahead of the season-ending 8 Hours of Bahrain, both the Porsche 963 and Cadillac V-Series.R have received both a minimum weight reduction of 7 kg, as well as a 1-MJ reduction in maximum stint energy.

The Cadillac is now one of the Hypercar category’s lightest cars at 1030 kg, while the Porsche’s new minimum weight is set at 1046 kg.

The issued maximum power outputs and hybrid deployment speeds for both cars have remained unchanged.

The Bahrain update marks the first time this season that championship organizers the FIA and ACO have made a platform BoP change, an option that was introduced as part of a new-look system for this season.

The system gave the option for adjustments to the BoP values of an entire platform if deemed necessary.

After the FIA and ACO issued BoP tables for the final three rounds in July, the next possibility for a platform BoP change required two races with sufficient representative data which was fulfilled by the dry-weather contests at Monza and Fuji.

The BoP adjustment that took place ahead of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June was different because it was made within, but not between, the LMDh and LMH platforms.

Adjustments in GTE-Am for Aston Martin, Corvette

Two cars in the GTE-Am category, the Aston Martin Vantage GTE and Chevrolet Corvette C8.R, have also received BoP tweaks ahead of the ruleset’s final WEC race appearance.

Tom Ferrier, whose TF Sport organization operates two out of three Aston Martin entries in the class, previously aired frustration at Aston Martin’s BoP at Monza, calling for an adjustment at Fuji.

While the British manufacturer did not receive any changes for the Japanese round, the car has been given a 2-liter fuel capacity increase and a 0.04 bar increase in turbo boost pressure for Bahrain.

The Corvette, meanwhile, will have its engine air restrictor size reduced from 41.3 to 40.7 millimeters while also receiving a 2-liter decrease in fuel capacity.

No changes have been made to the parameters of the Porsche 911 RSR-19 and Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.

GTE-Am is the only class at this weekend’s season finale where the drivers’ championship is no longer up for grabs after Ben Keating, Nico Varrone and Nicky Catsburg clinched the title with two races to spare at Monza.
