The popular 24 Hours of Dubai, as well as other emerging GT endurance races under the 24H Series banner, will have a new title sponsor and tire partner, as Hankook has become the series’ new partner with immediate effect.

The Korean tire company replaces Dunlop, which was recently forced to close its motorsports production facility in Birmingham, England.

“We are very grateful for the support we got from Dunlop over the years. They were instrumental in raising the profile of the various races and the 24H Series and we really enjoyed a partnership that has become a friendship”, said Creventic’s Gerrie Willems.

“Sad as we are to see Dunlop go, we are also delighted to have found a great new partner with Hankook. Supplying tires for all the different cars in our races, from GT3 sports cars to the compact hatchbacks in the touring car classes, is a logistical challenge, but Hankook is perfectly able to handle this.”

Hankook becomes the exclusive tire partner and new title sponsor of the 24H Series, which in addition to Dubai, holds endurance events at Zandvoort, Barcelona, Hungary and Mugello.

“With our comprehensive line-up of competition tires that have proven themselves successfully in classic endurance races on many occasions already, for instance at the Nürburgring or at Le Mans, we are perfectly able to meet the requirements of the field of competitors in all its diversity,” said Manfred Sandbichler, director of Motorsport for Hankook Tire Europe.

James Bailey, Marketing and Communications Director for Dunlop Motorsport EMEA added:

“Dunlop had the capability and capacity to supply the Zandvoort event. Due to the timing of the relocation of car race tyre production from Birmingham, we had informed Creventic that there was a risk to supply during winter events such as the Dubai 24h.

“Creventic had to appoint an alternative supplier, and for commercial reasons they also appointed this supplier for Zandvoort. We wish Creventic well, they promote fantastic race events and we hope we can work with them in the future.

“Dunlop are committed to motorsport. We have been appointed as supplier to the new for 2014 BMW M235i Cup, and we have renewed our agreements with major championships such as International GT Open, British Touring Car Championship and continue to support our partners in Le Mans type racing and the VLN Endurance Championship at the Nurburgring.”
