GetSpeed Team PCX Narrowly Grabs 24H Barcelona Pole

GetSpeed Team PCX Racing narrowly grabbed pole position for the Michelin 24H Barcelona after a post-session decision stripped Ajith RedAnt Racing of the pole.

The crew of the No. 93 Ajith RedAnt Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo initially produced a combined lap time of 1:40.683 with a gap of just 0.001 seconds to the No. 28 Team PCX Mercedes-AMG in second.

However, race control decided to reinstate Team PCX driver Benjamin Paque’s fastest lap from Qualifying 2, which was just enough to improve the No. 28 crew’s average time and claim pole.

It had appeared as though Team PCX would sail to pole across the trio of hotly-contested GT3 qualifying sessions after Paque produced the only sub-1:40 lap time in Qualifying 2.

The Belgian intially fell foul of a track limits penalty and was forced to forfeit his rapid lap, meaning it was down to Team PCX’s Maxime Martin and his fellow Mercedes-AMG factory driver Mikhael Grenier to decide the polesitter in a nail-bitingly close Qualifying 3.

Martin did eventually set the fastest overall time of 1:39.752. This, combined with Paque’s reinstated lap, was enough to beat the Ajith RedAnt team’s average lap by 0.282 seconds.

Sainteloc Junior Team picked up third place in qualifying ahead of 24H Series debutants Gamota Racing in the No. 500 BMW M4 GT3 EVO.

The GT3-Am class pole went to Viper Niza Racing’s No. 65 Mercedes-AMG in fifth place overall.

Championship leaders GetSpeed Team JR286 managed to grab sixth place on the grid ahead of HAAS RT’s BMW in seventh.

Up2Race finished qualifying in eighth place as the only Porsche 911 GT3 R Evo in the field following Proton Competition’s withdrawal from the event.

GT3-Am title contenders Hofor Racing snatched ninth place, with Spanish team E2P Racing rounding out the top ten at its home event.

In 992, class points leaders Red Camel-Jordans.nl claimed pole in its No. 909 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup with a healthy margin of 0.601 seconds to title rivals Mühlner Motorsport.

The No. 928 HRT Performance Porsche took the 992-Am pole and fourth place in the 992 field. The German squad holds a narrow points advantage over RPM Racing which only managed seventh place in qualifying.

CP Motorsport seized the GT4 class pole with the No. 483 BMW M4 GT4.

Not Only Motorsport navigated a dense TCE-TCX class field to take pole. It too is in a close championship fight, having jostled with asBest Racing for the entirety of the season.

Of note, asBest’s No. 102 Seat Leon Cup Racer, which is just four points behind Not Only Motorsport, failed to set a lap in qualifying as it sustained a crash in free practice on Friday morning.

Vortex grabbed pole position in its class as the only GTX competitor entered in this weekend’s event.

The 33-car grid will progress to a night practice session on Friday evening before the race start on Saturday morning at 12 p.m. local time (7 a.m. EST), with live coverage on Creventic Motorsports TV YouTube channel featuring Radio Show Limited commentary.
