Mercedes-AMG has presented a refocused lineup for the upcoming DTM season, scaling down to four cars from two teams as Landgraf Motorsport does not return to the series after debuting last year.

Both Haupt Racing Team and Winward Racing are set to continue their involvement in the championship with two cars each, staffed entirely by Mercedes-AMG factory talent.

HRT has retained its lineup from to last year, with Luca Stolz and newly minted factory driver Arjun Maini each piloting a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo.

Stolz was one of two drivers to win a race for the brand in 2023, which saw it finish third behind Porsche and Lamborghini in the constructors’ championship standings.

The other, Maro Engel, returns to the series despite Landgraf’s exit and moves across to Winward Racing to replace David Schumacher.

In the process, the German is set for a reunion with the team with which he claimed a GTD class victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2021.

Engel’s No. 130 car will run in Mercedes-AMG’s special livery celebrating 130 years of motorsport, which debuted on GruppeM Racing’s entry in last week’s Repco Bathurst 12 Hour.

“I have very fond memories of my co-operation with Winward Racing so far, for example the victory at Daytona we achieved together,” said Engel.

“The team has shown impressive performances in all series so far. There was still room for improvement for me in the DTM last season.

“That’s why we used the winter to put ourselves in the best possible position to fight for the championship.

“Of course, the 130th motorsport anniversary is something very special. It is an honour for me to be allowed to present car number 130.”

Engel will be joined at Winward by a returning Lucas Auer, as the team looks to return to winning ways after it went through its first winless campaign since joining the series last year.

“Taking into account our international achievements, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 is a highly competitive car,” said Stefan Wendl, Head of Mercedes-AMG Customer Racing.

“In last year’s DTM, we were not able to realise this potential for the title fight. Over the winter, we set the right course for 2024 and feel ideally positioned with our line-up of two Performance Teams and four Performance Drivers.

“My sincere thanks go to Klaus Landgraf and his entire team for the past season. We will strategically assign another task to Mercedes-AMG Team Landgraf which will be announced at a later date.”
