Walkenhorst Motorsport has confirmed that it will switch from DTM to ADAC GT Masters next year.

The German squad will run a pair of undisclosed cars in the series next year, which will be its debut campaign in the German GT3 championship.

As a result, it will step away from the DTM after a two-year stint.

Walkenhorst came into DTM with a single BMW M6 GT3 for Marco Wittmann for the introduction of GT3 regulations in 2021. Wittmann took two victories en route to a fifth place for the Melle-based squad in the teams’ standings.

It then expanded into a two-car effort with the new M4 GT3 this year, adding a car for Esteban Muth.

Additionally, it ran a third car at the Nürburgring for guest starter Theo Oeverhaus.

A more challenging 2022 campaign saw it drop to 11th with two podiums and a single victory for Wittmann in the final race of the season at Hockenheim.

Elsewhere, the team finished second in the Am class during the Spa 24 Hours.

“The whole team is looking forward to the challenge as a newbie in the series and to the cooperation with the ADAC,” said team manager Niclas Koenigbauer.

The team will reveal both drivers and car liveries at a later date, with a team statement saying “the final planning phase is not yet fully completed.”
