Defending Gulf 12 Hours winners Martin Kodric and Isa Al Khalifa will return to the race for next month’s edition with 2 Seas Motorsport but will compete in the Pro-Am class.
Kodric and team co-owner Al Khalifa will share a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo with experienced British competitor Hunter Abbott in the final round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli season.
2 Seas is fielding a pair of Mercedes-AMGs in the race at Yas Marina Circuit, with the second lineup to be announced at a later date.
Kodric, Al Khalifa and Ben Baricoat delivered 2 Seas Motorsport’s first major victory in the 2021 Gulf 12 Hours at Bahrain International Circuit, sharing a McLaren 720S GT3.
The U.K.-based, Bahrain-flagged team then defended its Gulf 12 Hours crown at Yas Marina earlier this year with the same lineup driving a Mercedes-AMG.
However, Kodric and Al Khalifa are focusing on achieving class honors rather than the overall victory for the upcoming IGTC edition on Dec. 11, since they are joined by Bronze-rated Abbott in a Pro-Am entry.
Abbott and Kodric previously shared a 2 Seas Mercedes-AMG in last year’s Silverstone 500 round of the Intelligent Money British GT Championship, which they won from pole.
“The Gulf 12 Hours has become a staple of our winter program since we set up 2 Seas Motorsport, and we have enjoyed great success, so I am really pleased to confirm that we are heading back for a third run,” said Al Khalifa.
“With the championship growing significantly, and having already achieved outright victories, we have pushed ourselves with a new challenge and taken the decision to shift our focus to the Pro-Am competition.
“Customer racing is a key part of our business as we continue [to] grow and evolve, and I am excited to see what we can do against such a strong grid.
“It is great to be back in the car alongside Martin for a third year, and for Hunter to join the team again.
“He and Martin proved a formidable team last time they raced together, and I am confident we will be pushing at the front of the field again, looking to secure a third trophy.”
