Mercedes-AMG has revealed the driver lineups with which it will contest next month’s Nürburgring 24, as the Three-Pointed Star looks to score its first win since 2016.
A pair of Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evos fielded by GetSpeed Performance will compete for overall victory in the Eifel classic in the SP9 Pro class, while an additional car in the Pro-Am division will be run by SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm.
Sharing the Bilstein-liveried No. 14 GetSpeed car will be Maro Engel, Maxime Martin, Fabian Schiller and Luca Stolz, with Nordschleife veteran Martin tackling the N24 at the wheel of Mercedes-AMG machinery for the first time.
The sister No. 17 car, will sports a unique ‘PRPL Beast’ livery, a nod to purple signifying a fastest sector time in motorsport (pictured bottom), will be piloted by Ralf Aron, Lucas Auer, Adam Christodoulou and Mikael Grenier.
Auer officially remains a N24 rookie — despite having been listed to drive twice in the race, including last year for GetSpeed, he has not yet actually completed a race stint.
Jannes Fittje, Jay Mo Hartling, Kenneth Heyer and a fourth driver to be announced later will share the Pro-Am No. 11 SR Motorsport by Schnitzelalm entry, with the team also fielding a Mercedes-AMG GT4 in the SP10 class.
Head of Mercedes-AMG Motorsport Christoph Sagemuller said: “We are travelling to the Nürburgring with great ambition and a clear goal: to secure Mercedes-AMG’s third overall victory in the history of the 24-hour race.
“Since our quadruple victory in 2016, we have repeatedly proven our competitiveness with our Mercedes-AMG GT3, strong driver line-ups and well-thought-out race strategies. We have always been a serious contender and have impressively underlined this with numerous podium finishes.
“But it has been nine years since our last overall victory – it is time to change that. With this mindset we are travelling to the Eifel region this year.”
Confirmation of Mercedes-AMG’s lineups means that Stolz and Martin will be embarking on a triple-header of 24-hour races next month.
Both are set to drive in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for Iron Lynx prior to the N24, and then in the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa with GetSpeed and Boutsen VDS respectively.
