Iribe Dominates Second Race of Weekend

Brendan Iribe dominated the second GT America powered by AWS race of the weekend at Virginia International Raceway, claiming victory for Inception Racing.

Iribe, who started on pole, led every lap of Sunday’s 40-minute race, which unlike on Saturday, ran caution-free.

He drove his No. 70 McLaren 720S GT3 to a 9.488-second win over Masters class winner Charlie Luck, who earned overall honors in the red flag-shortened Race 1.

The No. 88 Zelus Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo of Jason Harward appeared to be en route to a third place finish until making a late-race pit stop, dashing hopes of a podium result.

An incident between Jason Daskalos and George Kurtz knocked both drivers out of the race early.

Daskalos’ Audi R8 LMS ultra made contact with the No. 04 DXDT Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Kurtz, who had passed the Audi in the previous corner for third.

Damage was sustained to both cars, which were retired.

The No. 191 Rearden Racing Lamborghini of Jeff Burton, who spun on his own after also being in the mix, ultimately came home third, with CJ Moses recording a career-best fourth place finish overall.

Harward was classified fifth after the unscheduled stop.

Sean Quinlan swept the weekend with another class win in the GT4 class, meanwhile.

The Stephen Cameron Racing driver held off a hard-charging Alex Welch in the No. 76 ROTR Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT4 for top class honors.

Chris Cagnazzi finished third in his No. 39 RENNtech Motorsports Mercedes AMG GT4.
