The Pirelli GT4 America SprintX and Sprint series are set for its first doubleheader of the year this weekend at Virginia International Raceway, with both series, as well as GT4 East in action in the packed SRO Motorsports America event.

Twenty-two cars are entered for each of the series, with a number of drivers, teams and cars set to pull double duty and take part in all four races over the weekend.

SprintX competitors return to action for the first time since the season-opening round at Circuit of The Americas, which doubled as the opening event of GT4 East and West as well.

Nolasport’s Matt Travis and Jason Hart, who claimed victory in Race 1 and second overall in Race 2, head into the weekend as Pro-Am SprintX points leaders ahead of the Flying Lizard Motorsports pairing of Robby Foley and Michael Dinan.

Alan Brynjolfsson and Trent Hindman of Park Place Motorsports lead the way in the GT4 East standings, with the pairing having picked up overall honors in Race 2 at COTA.

Thirteen of the 22 entries are nominated to score points for GT4 East, and as was the case at COTA, will run invisible to the nationwide SprintX series in terms of their respective championships.

GT4 Sprint, meanwhile, will make its first start of of the season on a natural terrain road course, following standalone events with IndyCar at St. Pete and Long Beach.

Spencer Pumpelly leads the championship chase following his victory on the streets of Long Beach in his TRG Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport.

Track action for both series gets underway on Friday, with separate 60-minute/two-driver (SprintX), 50-minute/one-driver (Sprint) races on tap for Saturday and Sunday.
