James Takes Panoz to GT4 Sprint Race 2 Win at Sonoma

Ian James scored a controlling victory in Race 2 of the Pirelli GT4 America Sprint weekend at Sonoma Raceway, making an early-race pass on Race 1 winner Michael Cooper for his second win of the season.

Cooper led early in his No. 10 Blackdog Speed Shop McLaren 570S and held command through an early yellow, although got passed by James two laps after the restart with 42 minutes to go.

While the two leaders were battling, the No. 66 TRG Porsche 718 Cayman Clubsport of Spencer Pumpelly Reeled in Cooper to battle for second position.

Similarly to Race 1 however, Pumpelly would run out of tires and have to settle for another third place finish.

Matthew Brabham finished fourth following a charge from eighth on the restart in his No. 20 CRP Racing Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR, with newly Pro-rated Jarett Andretti completing the top-five overall in the No. 18 Andretti Autosport McLaren.

Staveley Sweeps GT4 Am Weekend in Mustang

Drew Staveley, meanwhile, picked up another class win in Am, finishing sixth overall in his No. 12 Ian Lacy Racing Ford Mustang GT4.

Tony Gaples and Sean Quinlan completed the class podium in second and third, respectively.
