Shane Lewis led the way in the opening practice session for Pirelli GT4 America competitors ahead of this weekend’s races at Road America.

The Robinson Racing driver reeled off a 2:18.634 lap time in Friday morning’s session, which was combined for GT4 Sprint, SprintX and East competitors.

Lewis, running in GT4 Sprint Pro, edged out the GT4 East Pro-Am-entered No. 77 Park Place Motorsports Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport of Trent Hindman by 0.469 seconds.

The No. 21 Flying Lizard Motorsports Porsche of Robby Foley was third, thanks to a 2:19.322 lap time in the GT4 SprintX Pro-Am entry that led the way in class.

Lewis’ teammate Gar Robinson in the No. 74 Chevrolet Camaro GT4.R was fourth, with Andrew Davis completing the top-five overall in his GT4 East Pro-Am-entered Audi R8 LMS GT4.

The session was brought to an early end after David Donohue nosed his No. 36 Andretti Autosport McLaren 570S GT4 into the barriers in Turn 6.

A second and final 45-minute practice session for GT4 competitors is on tap for 2:50 p.m. CT.
