SRO Strengthens Pirelli Partnership, IGTC Sponsorship

Pirelli has become the presenting sponsor of Intercontinental GT Challenge, as part of a strengthened partnership between SRO Motorsports Group and the Italian tire manufacturer.

Additionally, the two companies have recently reached a five-year contract extension that will keep Pirelli as the exclusive tire of all SRO-run championships worldwide until at least 2023.

The development comes on the heels of Pirelli becoming the entitlement sponsor of Pirelli GT4 America, which will debut within the SRO Motorsports America architecture next year.

Starting next year, SRO’s globe-trotting championship will be known as Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli.

In addition to its IGTC partnership, Pirelli will continue to be the sole tire supplier for all SRO-run GT3 and GT4 championships globally, including the Blancpain GT Series, GT4 European Series and all three Blancpain GT World Challenge championships.  

“We highly value all the equity and heritage that we’ve built up within the Pirelli World Challenge since 2011 through World Challenge Vision, and share SRO Motorsports America’s vision to grow the series internationally as part of our long-term partnership and joint strategy,” said Pirelli Car Racing manager Mario Isola.

“So we’re delighted to continue our exclusive supply to the Blancpain GT World Challenge and also launch the Pirelli GT4 America series, equipping one of the fastest-growing categories on the international GT scene.

“This enhances the constantly-expanding reach of all the different championships promoted by our valued partner SRO and consolidates Pirelli’s leadership of all the premium GT championships around the worldwide.”

SRO Motorsports Group founder and CEO Stephane Ratel said Pirelli has been a valued long-term “technical and promotional partner” for all of its championships.

“We’re delighted to take our collaboration to the next level by offering drivers in America the chance to gain global exposure and boosting entries still further by making the American series the passport to the Blancpain GT World Challenge,” Ratel said.

“The new Pirelli GT4 America series is also an exciting addition to the portfolio, in one of the fastest-growing categories.

“At the forefront of both these new championships will be P Zero tires, offering our competitors performance, reliability, and prestige – as they have always done.”
