Bryan Herta Autosport is set for its debut in McLaren Trophy America competition this weekend at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, as part of a 19-car entry for the SRO America-run single-make series.
The multi-time IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR championship-winning squad will enter the McLaren Trophy Pro ranks with Bryson Morris and Daniel Hanley as drivers for the remainder of the season.
It comes alongside a parallel Pirelli GT4 America program, also with a McLaren Artura race car.
Another addition to the grid is a second Flying Lizard Motorsports-run entry, under the Colorado Motorsport with Flying Lizard banner, for Zach Lumsden.
There are also several driver changes since the Miami weekend, which saw only a single race go ahead in the weather-impacted weekend.
Cody Kishel has replaced Alex Pollard in the No. 47 RWE Motorsport McLaren Artura Trophy EVO alongside Spencer Schmidt, while Paul Holton will be back in the No. 8 Forte Racing entry after Jon Miller subbed for him in Miami due to Holton’s Pilot Challenge commitments at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca that weekend.
Patrick Liddy and Tanner Harvey remain atop the points standings in the Pro class despite victory by RWE’s Sam Nesser and Jams Li in Miami.
Nesser and Li are tied on 26 points with Forte’s Kaia Teo, who are all four points behind Liddy and Harvey.
Spencer Schmidt, meanwhile, holds a three-point lead over the Greystone GT duo of Oliver Webb and Ryan James in Pro-Am, with Cooper Broll leading the Am class by five points over Deniz Teoman and Jeff Cook with three races in the books.
McLaren Trophy competitors will take to the 2.54-mile Road Atlanta circuit for the first time on Thursday, with a test and practice session each. Practice 2 is on tap for Friday, followed by qualifying and Race 1 (2:25 p.m. EST) on Saturday. Race 2 (9 a.m. EST) will cap off the weekend on Sunday.
Both races will be streamed live on SRO’s GT World and McLaren Automotive’s YouTube channels.
