A new street race in the Chinese capital of Beijing will close out the 2025 Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS calendar, the SRO-run series has announced.
The all-new Beijing Street Circuit, located in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, also known as ‘E-Town’, will host its inaugural race on Oct. 17-19 and effectively replaces Shanghai International Circuit as the championship’s stop in China.
It marks Fanatec GT Asia’s first-ever street race, although the SRO organization has run events on public roads in China before, notably doing so in 1994-95 in Zhuhai and again in Beijing in 2011 with the FIA GT1 World Championship.
Apex Circuit Design, the company behind such circuits as the Dubai Autodrome and the Miami International Autodrome, was responsible for formulating the 4.9-kilometre (3.04-mile) track, set against the backdrop of Tongming Lake Park.
Beijing Street Circuit founder Zou Sirui said: “What we are creating in Beijing E-Town will ultimately become a beacon for Chinese motorsport and jewel in GT World Challenge Asia’s crown.
“This is a very ambitious project but also one that SRO have fully embraced. The event, which begins one year from today, promises to be an incredible spectacle.”
SRO founder and CEO Stephane Ratel added: “SRO pioneered the use of street circuits in China so it is fitting that GT World Challenge Asia’s first such event should take place in the same country.
“Beijing E-Town and the Beijing Street Circuit promise to provide a spectacular setting for GT3 racing, not just in China and Asia but globally as well.
“I would like to thank the event’s founder, Zou Sirui, without whom this project would not be possible, and Apex Circuit Design for creating what I am sure will become a reference point for street circuits around the world.”
The rest of the 2025 Fanatec GT Asia remains as previously announced, with Sepang kicking off what will be a six-round series for the main championship in April.
Alongside the rounds at Fuji and Okayama, a standalone event at Sportsland Sugo in June along with support races for the revived Suzuka 1000km Intercontinental GT Challenge fixture in September create a four-round calendar for the Japan Cup.
