Car Collection Motorsport has purchased two new Porsche 911 GT3 Rs that the German squad plans to run alongside its continuing program with Audi next year.

The team led by Peter Schmidt on Friday confirmed that it will operate Porsche’s Type-992 model, with the series and driver lineup details to be announced at a later date.

It will continue fielding Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo IIs rather than completely switching manufacturers.

Car Collection has close connections with Porsche, starting with Schmidt’s participation in the 1995 Veedol Endurance Cup.

It went on to enter various types of Porsche Cup cars in the Nürburgring Nordschleife-based VLN and most recently competed in the 2019 Porsche Carrera Cup Germany.

“I’ve been always a big Porsche fan,” said Schmidt.

“The Porsche made the way for my current team, Car Collection Motorsport. I am very pleased to be able to field two Porsche 911 GT3 R in the coming season.

“But we will continue to work very closely with Audi Sport customer racing and use our well-known Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.”

This year Car Collection ran Audi’s newly-updated Evo II car in Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS under a partnership with Ferdinando Geri’s Tresor organization.

It also entered the Nürburgring 24, where it finished fourth and sixth with Audi Sport Team entries, as well as the Hankook 24 Hours of Dubai and ADAC GT Masters.

Car Collection started running Audi GT3 machinery in 2016 after switching from Mercedes.
