Mercedes-AMG was crowned with its fourth consecutive Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS global manufacturers’ title at the SRO Motorsports Group awards on Saturday.

The German marque beat six other GT3 brands to the top spot in SRO’s annual competition that factors in results from the four regional GTWC series in Europe, America, Asia and Australia.

The trophy was presented to Mercedes-AMG’s head of Customer Racing Stefan Wendl before the final round of the Australian season at Adelaide this weekend, considering AMG’s customer teams had already scored enough points to secure the title.

With three GTWC Australia races to go, Mercedes-AMG leads the manufacturers’ standings with an unassailable 21,518 points.

Audi Sport is second on 17,060 points, ahead of Ferrari (13,780) and Porsche (10,644).

Lamborghini, McLaren and BMW also signed up for the championship.

Mercedes-AMG is now unbeaten in four editions of the global competition, which was launched in 2019 as a way of recognizing manufacturers through the work of their customer teams.

Championship points scored by the highest-finishing car per manufacturer in each class are multiplied by the number of cars entered in that class.

The scores from each class are then added up to give a manufacturer’s points haul for a single race, with 51 races making up the full GTWC season.

The highest-scoring event was the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa where Mercedes-AMG racked up 4,664 points alone, contributing to almost 22 percent of its total.

At the London awards ceremony Wendl also collected the globe-shaped Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by AWS trophy after Mercedes-AMG secured the manufacturers’ title by winning the penultimate round of the season at the Indianapolis 8 Hour.
