Daiko Lazarus Racing has withdrawn its Silver Cup entry from this weekend’s Total 24 Hours of Spa, reducing to a single-car Am Cup program.

The Italian team made the decision on account of Kris Richard’s injury sustained at Monza in April, which resurfaced during the Spa test days earlier this month.

Richard completed 12 laps at the test and struggled with problems with his neck muscles, preventing him from completing his test program.

A statement released by the team said that medical tests conducted in the last few days revealed “it was too dangerous for him to start in his current physical state, putting him and therefore the team in a too hazardous situation.”

He was set to share the No. 27 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo with Fabrizio Crestani, Nicolas Pohler and Jonathan Cecotto, but none of those drivers will now take part in this weekend’s joint Blancpain GT Series and Intercontinental GT Challenge powered by Pirelli round.

Graham Davidson has replaced Mike Hedlund in the team’s sole remaining car, meanwhile, running in the Am Cup.

The British GT Championship regular, who usually shares a TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with Jonny Adam, joins Sylvain Debs, Fernando Navarrete and Immanuel Vinke.

The withdrawal of Daiko Lazarus’ Silver Cup entry brings the latest entry list to 72 cars. On-track action got underway this afternoon with the Bronze Test.
