R-Motorsport leads the Total 24 Hours of Spa with the first round of pit stops completed, following a fairly incident-free opening hour at the Belgian circuit.
Marvin Kirchhoefer took over the No. 62 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 from pole sitter Maxime Martin, who lost the lead to Rene Rast on the opening lap.
This put Rast’s No. 2 Audi Sport Team WRT car into the lead for the first stint, despite repeated attempts by Martin to get the Aston Martin back out front.
The pair completed their first pit stops early, after less than 55 minutes of racing, while several other front-running teams elected to make the most of the 65-minute maximum stint time.
Kirchhoefer exited the pits ahead of Nico Mueller, now in the No. 2 Audi, while Mirko Bortolotti runs in his Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
Gary Paffett was given a ten-second penalty to be added to his pit stop time for weaving during the formation lap while Franck Perera stopped for an extra five seconds for exceeding track limits.
AKKA ASP is out front in the Silver Cup while SunEnergy1 Team HTP Motorsport leads in Pro-Am and Garage 59 leads the Am Cup field.
