Villorba Corse will compete in the Blancpain GT Series this year, as it enters a Ferrari 458 Italia GT3 in both the Sprint and Endurance Series.

The Italian squad led by Raimondo Amadio will field a car for Francesco Castellacci, Stefano Gai and Andrea Rizzoli in the five-round endurance series, where the Italian trio will compete in the Pro-Am category.

Castellacci is no stranger to SRO’s GT3 championships and already raced in the FIA GT1 World Championship back in 2012 and the Blancpain Endurance Series last year, while Gai and Rizzoli claimed second place in the ELMS GTC standings last season with AF Corse.

In the Sprint Series, its Ferrari will be driven by former F1 driver and sportscar veteran Andrea Montermini and young Czech Filip Salaquarda, who once again enters the championship in a Prancing Horse.

Montermini starts his fifth season with Villorba Corse, after clinching the International GT Open championship with the team last year.

“Our 2014 [season] starts with an intense job but racing the Blancplain Sprint Series gives us even more motivation,”said Montermini. “We are expecting a very challenging commitment with many experienced drivers from Formula 1.”

“Our entry into the GT3 world is the proper continuation of our work,” Amadio added. “We are honored to be able to do it with Ferrari and to compete in one of the most important international championships.”

The latest announcement adds the number of confirmed entries in the Sprint Series to 17, representing six different brands.

Blancpain Racing (1x Lamborghini), Grasser Racing Team (2x Lamborghini), Belgian Audi Club Team WRT (4x Audi), Phoenix Racing (2x Audi), BMW Team Brasil (2x BMW), ROAL Motorsport (2x BMW), HTP Motorsport (2x Mercedes), JMB Racing (1x Nissan), Villorba Corse (1x Ferrari)
