Hannah Grisham drove the No. 26 Heart of Racing Team Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo to a maiden pole position for Saturday’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge two-hour race at Watkins Glen International.
Grisham bested Evan Slater and the No. 60 KohR Motorsports Ford Mustang GT4 by 0.368 seconds. Caio Chaves ended GS qualifying in third after a second place result in the first practice session on Thursday.
She became the first female Pilot Challenge GS class pole-sitter since Valerie Limoges, who claimed top qualifying honors for the then-named Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series.
More recently, Taylor Hagler scored TCR pole at Mid-Ohio in 2020.
LP Montour took a commanding pole position in the TCR class. The No. 93 Honda Civic FL5 TCR led the 14-car field by 0.748 seconds.
It was the car’s first pole of the season following Montour and Karl Wittmer’s victory at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Fellow Honda outfit KMW Motorsports with TMR Engineering initially rounded out the front row with Rocco Pasquerilla behind the wheel of the No. 5.
However, the car has been moved to the rear of the TCR grid due to a ground clearance violation, promoting the No. 77 Stallion Motorsports w/ GOU entry CUPRA Leon VZ TCR of Raphael Reis to second.
The only incident came from the No. 67 BSI Racing Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2 of Harrison Goodman losing part of his front bumper with two minutes remaining in the GS session.
The LP Building Solutions 120 at The Glen takes the green flag on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. EST with live streaming coverage on Peacock as well as IMSA’s YouTube channel, commercial free, courtesy of Michelin.
