DragonSpeed has confirmed plans to contest the full IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup with its No. 81 Oreca 07 Gibson, while at the same time adding Kyffin Simpson to its lineup for the Rolex 24 at Daytona.

As previously revealed by Sportscar365, the Elton Julian-led squad will join the grid for next month’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season opener with a last-minute entry as it refocuses its operations to the U.S. after several seasons of competing in Europe.

The team has now confirmed that, in addition to the Daytona opener, it is set to contest the other four Endurance Cup rounds as well.

Eric Lux and James Allen, both former LMP2 class winners at Daytona, will be joined for the Florida endurance classic by European Le Mans Series LMP2 champion Simpson.

Simpson will be reunited with ELMS co-driver Allen, as the duo formed part of Algarve Pro Racing’s title-winning lineup alongside Cadillac factory driver Alex Lynn.

“I’m excited to join DragonSpeed for the Rolex 24,” he said.

“The team has such a great pedigree, and I’m sure we’ll hit the ground running. Sportscar racing has been a crucial component of my development as a driver and I’m glad to continue that with a winning team.

“It’s nice to be back with James for another race, and of course James, Eric, Elton, and the rest of team all know what it takes to win at Daytona.”

DragonSpeed’s fourth and final driver for the Daytona enduro will be announced ahead of the Roar Before the 24.

“With Kyffin’s addition, I believe our driver lineup will match anyone’s in LMP2 at the Rolex in 2024,” added Julian.

“We’re really looking forward to taking full advantage of his phenomenal growth as a driver over the last couple of years.

“Having Eric and James back in the fold just strengthens our chances of being in contention going into the final stages of this great event.

“I think we’re positioned for a strong homecoming to, and future in, IMSA, who really put out the welcome mat to make this program possible.”
