Mario Farnbacher has been confirmed in Magnus Racing’s lineup for next weekend’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen, marking the team’s first start since the season-opening Rolex 24 at Daytona, where it nearly pulled off GTD class victory.
Farnbacher will join team owner/driver John Potter and Spencer Pumpelly in the No. 44 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, marking his first race for the team since 2021, when the then-Acura factory driver was in Magnus Racing with Archangel Motorsports’ Acura NSX GT3 Evo in the Rolex 24.
“Mario is a great asset and proven winner to the team,” said John Potter. “Even though we’re on a limited schedule, we come to every race with the intention of winning, so when evaluating our options for Watkins Glen, Mario’s success and experience made sense. We’re happy to have him back.”
The two-time IMSA GTD class champion’s last full-season IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship drive came with Forte Racing’s Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 effort, which ceased series operations at the end of the year.
Magnus is still seeking an elusive first class win in the six-hour contest at Watkins Glen, which serves as the third round of the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup.
“It’s great to be back with everyone at Magnus Racing,” stated Farnbacher. “Our experience together in 2021 was a fun one, and I really appreciate being back in such a family atmosphere.
“The Aston Martin will hopefully be very competitive at Watkins Glen, just like it was the last time I drove it, but obviously it’s a new year and a new challenge.
“With John and Spencer we have great potential, we’ll see how the weekend goes.”
The entry list for the June 28 enduro will be released later today.
