Lamborghini Super Trofeo is poised to have several new events next year, potentially linking up with the FIA World Endurance Championship on multiple continents in parallel with the Italian manufacturer’s involvement in the Hypercar class.

The single-make series in Europe, Asia and North America could all have events on WEC weekends next year, while maintaining its existing connections with SRO Motorsports Group and IMSA, respectively as the sanctioning bodies.

While Lamborghini Motorsport boss Giorgio Sanna fell short of confirming such plans, he did indicate there will be changes to the calendars next year.

“For Super Trofeo, we will have some new opportunities to bring Super Trofeo to different platforms,” Sanna told Sportscar365. “We’ll announce the schedule after the summer because now we closing the negotiations.

“For sure we’ll continue with SRO [in Super Trofeo Europe/Asia]. But in the meantime we’re also looking for new opportunities. As you can imagine, we’re entering in a new dimension in creating a new platform that includes the LMDh.”

Lamborghini Iron Lynx’s LMDh program will make its debut in both the WEC and the IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup races within the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next year, leading to the rumored increased cooperation.

The WEC will feature European rounds at Imola, Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans next year while Fuji will serve as the only round in Southeast Asia and Circuit of The Americas, in a standalone race from the WeatherTech Championship, being the lone North American event.

Sanna indicated the same philosophy will be applied to all three of its series.

“We will announce something soon,” he said. “But the same strategy for Super Trofeo [Europe] will also be applied in America and Asia. It’s not only Europe but we’re working to bring Super Trofeo globally with a chance [to be] with LMDh.”

Lamborghini had already planned to race during an ACO-run event this year.

The Super Trofeo Europe season was due to open at Imola, supporting the European Le Mans Series, but was canceled due to delayed track-related construction, with the rounds moved to Vallelunga in November prior to the Grand Final.
