Taurino Fastest in Friday Practice at Road America

Giano Taurino topped the time charts Friday at Road America in the opening day of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America action.

The TR3 Racing driver led the way with a best lap of 2:06.440 in his No. 88 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 he shares with Lucas Petersson.

The time, set in the morning session, was 0.062 seconds quicker than the No. 84 Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport Lamborghini of Ryan Norman, who wound up second.

Danny Formal was quickest in the afternoon’s 45-minute practice, thanks to a 2:06.607 in his No. 1 WTR Andretti entry, which is seeking its fifth and sixth consecutive wins in the Pro class this weekend.

Formal’s time was good enough for the third best of the day, followed by the No. 30 ANSA Motorsports entry of Nico Jamin and the No. 55 Forty7 Motorsport Lamborghini of Joel Miller, who has been moved to the Pro class due to being a solo driver this weekend.

Anthony McIntosh was quickest of the Am class competitors in the No. 69 Precision Performance Motorsports Lamborghini with the sixth quickest time overall, ahead of Pro-Am class leader Andy Lee in the No. 14 Flying Lizard Motorsports entry.

Ofir Levy, meanwhile, set the pace in LB Cup in his No. 13 Forte Racing by US RaceTronics entry.

While Practice 2 ran without major incident, the opening session saw two red flags, the first for an accident by Tom Capizzi in the No. 46 PPM Lamborghini.

It was followed by an incident by Ron Atapattu that brought out a session-ending red flag with less than two minutes left on the clock.

Qualifying is scheduled to get underway at 10:20 a.m. CDT followed by Race 1 at 3:50 p.m., which will be streamed live on Peacock and IMSA.tv.
