Mercedes-AMG has launched a special limited-edition version of its GT3-homologated racing car to mark the German brand’s 55th anniversary this year.

The Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 includes special exterior and interior features that distinguish it from the standard Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo competition model.

It will be produced in a limited run of five examples and will cost €625,000 excluding VAT ($620,800 USD).

The non-homologated vehicle, which is designed for collectors, comes wrapped in a 55th-anniversary livery that features the logo of Affalterbach, where Mercedes-AMG is based and where the Edition 55 will be produced.

The 6.3-liter V8 engine has been “optimized” to deliver an increased 650 horsepower, approximately 100 hp more than the FIA-homologated GT3 version.

The silencer has been removed to enhance the engine’s sound, while the cockpit includes a Bosch Data Display Unit 11 to relay performance information to the driver.

Elsewhere inside the car, special details have been fitted to emphasize exclusivity, such as seats embroidered with Mercedes-AMG’s 55th-anniversary symbol and two plaques denoting the car’s unique edition number.

Owners of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 will also receive a Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “AMG” manufactured by IWC Schaffhausen.

“With the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55, we acknowledge the 55-year history of our brand once again this year,” said Mercedes-AMG’s head of motorsport Christoph Sagemueller.

“It is a reverence to the many unforgettable motorsport moments we have been able to collect in over five decades at the race tracks of this world.

“We have strictly limited the production of this special edition: there are only five units, all equipped with high-quality special features and added elements.

“That makes the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Edition 55 to a collector’s piece that can hardly be exceeded in terms of exclusivity.”
