Ben Hanley will embark on a dual-series LMP2 program with United Autosports next year after being announced as the team’s first European Le Mans Series signing.

The Brit was recently named as Ben Keating’s full-time co-driver at the Anglo-American organization for its IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship return.

There are no date clashes between the ELMS and WeatherTech Championship LMP2 schedules, enabling Hanley to complete both series in full.

He will take part in his first ELMS campaign with United after switching over from Nielsen Racing where he spent the last two seasons.

“Racing with United Autosports in the 2024 European Le Mans Series is really exciting, even more so alongside the IMSA program,” said Hanley.

“We have a big year ahead, challenging for two major LMP2 championship titles in IMSA and the ELMS.

“That is our clear objective throughout 2024, so let the hard work commence.”

Hanley developed an affiliation with United this year when he stepped in for three FIA World Endurance Championship rounds because of date clashes for the team’s drivers.

The 38-year-old is a two-time ELMS race winner with DragonSpeed. After six seasons with the American team, he joined Nielsen in 2022 and twice drove for the British outfit at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 Pro-Am class.

Hanley also competed in the WeatherTech Championship’s LMP2 division last year with CrowdStrike Racing by APR.

“Ben is another big addition to our ELMS driver lineup,” said United Autosports CEO Richard Dean.

“We finished our 2023 season with three wins out of six so we can measure that as a pretty successful year. However, we know the level in the series lifts higher every year and we need to keep pushing for our own improvements.

“Ben is a winner and it’s great to have him with us for a full season in 2024 to help us continue our desire to win.”
