MDK Motorsports and High Class Racing have joined forces for a new wide-ranging partnership that will see the two sports car racing teams unite on multiple continents and series next year.

The Ohio-based outfit, owned by Mark and Megan Kvamme, announced on Friday its new alliance with the Barcelona-based High Class organization, run by Anders Fjordbach.

The two teams will collaborate on multiple programs, including in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, European and Asian Le Mans Series and Michelin Le Mans Cup, among possible others.

The two team owner/drivers first met at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans where they co-drove an Inter Europol Competition-run Oreca 07 Gibson with Jan Magnussen.

“We obviously spent a lot of time together in those several weeks and we really got to know each other and what his goals and objectives are and what my goals and objectives are,” Kvamme told Sportscar365.

“He’s run a LMP2 program over here for two years now and of course he’s got a pretty significant program in Europe as well.

“Anders is a driver and a team owner and I’m a driver and a team owner. There’s a lot of similarities.

“What we’re finding is that we have a lot of drivers in the U.S. that want to do something in Europe and he’s got a lot of European guys wanting to race in the U.S. and Asia.

“What we’re really finding is the ability to cross fertilization across any race, any where. I think it’s going to be a big benefit for the overall team.”

Fjordbach added: “Mark and I have a longstanding camaraderie and this venture is a testament to our shared commitment to the world of motorsports.

“I have no doubt that our work together will invigorate the racing universe, by extending a welcoming hand to drivers from various corners of the globe. This collaboration is set to leave an indelible mark.”

Kvamme said MDK branding will be on High Class’ Oreca LMP2 entry in the WeatherTech Championship next year, which will be run alongside MDK’s own Porsche 911 GT3 R in the GTD category.

Drivers for both programs are expected to be announced next week.

Additionally, plans are being put into place for MDK to be associated with High Class’ Ligier JS P320 Nissan LMP3 entry in the 2023-24 Asian Le Mans Series season, which kicks off at Sepang in December, followed by ELMS and Le Mans Cup entries next year.

Kvamme explained that the partnership also helps create a full ladder system within the team, which won multiple championships in Porsche single-make racing this year.

“We’re doing Mustang Challenge [next year], then we’ll do Porsche Sprint Challenge, Carrera Cup, [IMSA] GTD and LMP2,” he said.

“It’s kind of what I set out to do from the very beginning.

“We started with six cars, four in Sprint Challenge and two in Carrera Cup [in 2022]. This year, we ended the year with seven in Carrera Cup and six in Sprint Challenge and also did the GT3 effort in SRO [America] with the Porsche.

“What I’m trying to do is put a world class effort on the track, in the cars, but also have an environment where you’re very excited to bring sponsors and family.

“That’s what we want to do. People are spending a lot of money to do this, and if you’re a gentleman racer, you want to have a place to invite your family to.

“That’s something really important to us.”
