Cadillac Racing has confirmed it will enter into an alliance with JOTA Sport to field two V-Series.Rs in the top class of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship.
The American manufacturer will expand to a second full-time Hypercar entry for the first time next season in line with the WEC’s new two-car mandate.
At the same time, Cadillac will join forces with Porsche customer squad JOTA as its current alliance with Chip Ganassi Racing comes to a conclusion, a possibility that was first reported by Sportscar365 back in April.
The two cars will be fielded under the ‘Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA’ banner, with JOTA’s two current race numbers, No. 12 and No. 38, being maintained.
“Cadillac is proud to be racing against the best in the world as part of the FIA World Endurance Championship, and that includes Hertz Team JOTA,” said John Roth, vice president, Global Cadillac.
“We are thrilled to welcome Hertz Team JOTA next year, bringing decades of racing and technical expertise together, to achieve continued success on the track and create new advocates for our brand around the globe.”
JOTA joined the WEC’s top class last year with a single Porsche 963, adding a second example this year and claiming a first outright win in the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps.
“JOTA has always strived to become a manufacturer team, so now joining forces with Cadillac is the realization of this goal,” said JOTA co-owner Sam Hignett.
“Having competed against the Cadillac V-Series.R for the last two seasons, we have experienced how competitive it is and we are genuinely honored to be entrusted with fielding its cars from 2025 onward.
“We are in the privileged position to have enjoyed record-breaking success in the FIA World Endurance Championship, especially at Le Mans, and we are very much looking forward to continuing this success with Cadillac and Hertz.”
No drivers have yet been confirmed for the new Cadillac/JOTA effort, although existing factory drivers Alex Lynn and Earl Bamber look certain to be part of the new set-up, as does long-time JOTA driver Will Stevens.
Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button also expressed his desire to stay with JOTA speaking to Sportscar365 last month, while Callum Ilott is understood to be in contention but is also still exploring options in the NTT IndyCar Series.
Cadillac will announce its plans for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship separately, although Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti is expected to take over from Ganassi as the GM marque’s partner squad in the North American series.
