Porsche Penske Motorsport could have several changes to its driver roster across the FIA World Endurance Championship and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship next year, with a possible “shuffling” of lineups according to its managing director Jonathan Diuguid.
The factory Porsche LMDh squad, which currently operates a pair of Porsche 963s in both series, is believed to be evaluating multiple changes within its full-season rosters, including the possibility of several drivers being replaced.
Sportscar365 understands that Julien Andlauer, who has starred with the customer Proton Competition Porsche 963 effort in the WEC this year, could be promoted to the works team, while four-time Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel has not faded off the German manufacturer’s radar.
While not confirming any specifics, Diuguid indicated that it could swap drivers between the WEC and WeatherTech Championship programs again, similar to what it did with Dane Cameron and Matt Campbell for the 2024 seasons.
“I don’t know if it will be a change or more of a shuffling of lineups like we did this year,” Diuguid told Sportscar365.
“I think the selected changes we made between the two championships last year has borne fruit. Obviously Dane is back in IMSA where he’s comfortable and he’s leading the championship by a large margin with Felipe [Nasr].
“That was a good, positive change.
“I think we look at our global program and just see where drivers are best placed based on the positions they’re in.”
Both Cameron, who currently leads the WeatherTech Championship GTP standings, and WEC pilot Andre Lotterer have been rumored to be on the hot seat.
Cameron is paired with Felipe Nasr in the No. 7 Porsche, while 42-year-old Lotterer currently tops the world championship with Laurens Vanthoor and Kevin Estre in the No. 6 entry.
Porsche Penske’s other cars are crewed by Mathieu Jaminet and Nick Tandy (WeatherTech Championship) and Campbell, Fred Makowiecki and Michael Christensen (WEC).
When asked if he expects Cameron to continue with Porsche Penske in the WeatherTech Championship next year, Diuguid said: “I think Dane’s doing a great job in IMSA right now. We’ll see where it all shakes out.”
Vettel, meanwhile, is believed to still be an option for next year, although talks have gone “quiet” in recent weeks according to Porsche LMDh factory director Urs Kuratle.
Diuguid added: “He did the testing [earlier this year] and it was a very serious consideration on putting him in a car at Le Mans. The timing and everything didn’t work out.
“Mostly I think that was in Porsche’s court. I think there’s other things from a brand side that they’d be interested in having him do, not just driving race cars.
“I wouldn’t say that conversation has died. It’s not progressed or been eliminated from where we’ve been.”
Diuguid said they hope to firm up lineups for both series prior to the end of each respective season, which comes at Motul Petit Le Mans in October for the WeatherTech Championship and Bahrain in November for the WEC.
