HP Racing has claimed victory in the 24 Hours of Barcelona, leading a 1-2-3 sweep of Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 cars in the fifth round of the International 24H Series.

The No. 2 entry of Bernd Schneider, Reinhold Renger, Hari Proczyk, Reinhard Kofler and American Sean Johnston took top honors by a more than three laps.

It came despite a late-race incident that resulted in damage to the car’s nose and hood.

The No. 10 Hofor Racing Mercedes finished second overall and in the A6 GT3 class, while a third place overall result for Ram Racing was good enough for the British squad to clinch the class team championship with one round still to go.

The overall-winning Mercedes completed 662 laps, in a race that saw no major incidents and only 13 Code 60 neutralizations to collect stranded cars and debris.

Class winners in the race, which featured 74 starters, included Ruffier Racing (997), Leipert Motorsport (SPX), ARC Bratislava (SP2) and APO Sport (SP3).

Next up for the 24H Series is the season-ending 12H Epilog Brno on Oct. 9-10.

RESULTS: 24H Barcelona
