Marvin Dienst will return to DTM with Toksport WRT, which has signed the German driver to replace Christian Engelhart in its two-car Porsche lineup.
Toksport announced on Monday that it had parted ways with Engelhart, who took the squad’s first DTM victory at Oschersleben during the opening weekend of the season.
Dienst, who took part in two DTM races in a Muecke Motorsport-entered Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo in 2021, will pilot the team’s second Porsche 911 GT3 R for the remainder of the season.
“I’m super excited that Toksport WRT is giving me the opportunity to drive in the DTM with them,” said Dienst.
“We have a three-year relationship with the team, which has yielded many good results. I hope this positive trend continues, and I will give my utmost effort to achieve the best possible results.
“The DTM is a prestigious platform and championship that every racing driver dreams of participating in.
“However, joining the DTM mid-season won’t be an easy task, considering that most of the field has already completed numerous races and tests using different setups and tire configurations.
“Nevertheless, the high level of trust that Toksport WRT has placed in me is inspiring, and I’m confident that we will carry our successful history into the DTM in the future.”
Dienst has been aligned with the Seyhun Duru-led squad since 2021, first joining its Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS Endurance Cup program.
The 26-year-old raced for Toksport twice in the CrowdStrike 24 Hours of Spa, most notably joining Julien Andlauer and Sven Mueller in a Pro-class Porsche last year.
“Dienst’s return to Toksport WRT is a testament to the strong bond we share and the shared passion for excellence in motorsports,” said team principal Duru.
“We have witnessed Marvin’s remarkable journey and growth over the years, and we are confident that his skills and dedication will play a crucial role in propelling the team to greater heights in the DTM series.”
Grasser Retains Paul for Lausitzring Races
Maximilian Paul will remain part of GRT Grasser Racing Team’s two-car Lamborghini program at the Lausitzring following his surprise victory at the Nürburgring.
Paul stepped into the No. 19 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 at the previous championship round to replace Mick Wishofer and overcame wet conditions to take victory in the Sunday race.
The German ace will continue with Grasser for a second consecutive weekend at the Lausitzring, lengthening what was initially intended as a one-off appearance with the Austrian outfit.
“The euphoria lasted longer than usual after the victory at the Nürburgring,” said team principal Gottfried Grasser.
“Winning in the DTM was a special milestone for our team and we are very proud of this success.
“Nevertheless, it is already history and we are looking ahead, because the next challenges are already waiting for us.
“There are intense weeks ahead in the DTM and of course we want to take the momentum from the Nürburgring with us. But we have to remain realistic.
“It’s important to get the maximum out of every weekend, to be consistent and not to give away any potential.
“To be on the grid with Max again at the Lausitzring is a great pleasure for us. We worked together very well from the first moment and the results have of course exceeded all expectations.”
The team indicated that Paul is unlikely to continue with the team for the final three rounds after Lausitzring, as they clash with the German’s commitments with Oregon Team in International GT Open.
