ADAC Nordrhein has revealed a 141-car entry list for the 53rd running of the Nürburgring 24, headlined by a field of 27 GT3 cars that will compete as part of the second round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge season.
While the field for this year’s Eifel endurance classic is made up of 20 categories, the headlining SP9 category is by far the largest with eight manufacturers represented.
Registered full-season IGTC brands BMW, Ferrari, Mercedes-AMG and Porsche are joined by defending winners Audi as well as Aston Martin, Ford and Lamborghini.
While the majority of top squads, including the likes of Manthey EMA, Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed, ROWE Racing and Scherer Sport PHX had already previously confirmed their lineups, the release of the entry list has confirmed the driver combinations for several SP9 squads.
Falken Motorsports, which has been a dominant player in multiple NLS rounds leading up to the event, has placed Julien Andlauer, Nico Menzel, Sven Mueller and Alessio Picariello aboard the No. 33 Porsche 911 GT3 R.
The sister No. 44 machine, meanwhile, will be piloted by Dorian Boccolacci, Tim Heinemann, Dennis Marschall and Morris Schuring.
The Schnabl Engineering-run operation had named its full driver squad back in March, but was yet to name the exact composition for its N24 lineups.
ABT had similarly named its driver crew when it revealed its expanded two-car Lamborghini effort in the same month.
Wednesday’s release of the entry list has confirmed that Jordan Pepper, Mirko Bortolotti and Daniel Juncadella will share the No. 27 Huracan GT3 EVO2 entered under the Red Bull Team ABT banner.
The sister No. 28 machine, which has been entered as an ABT Sportsline entry, features Marco Mapelli, Christian Engelhart and Luca Engstler.
Notably, Franck Perera, who was named as part of the original crew, is absent.
A Lamborghini spokesperson provided the following statement to Sportscar365 when approached for comment regarding the Frenchman’s status for the event:
“ABT has decided to field its two race cars, No. 27 and No. 28, with only three drivers in each car.
“Following the preparation races of the NLS season and the participation in the 24H Qualifiers, this proved to be the optimal and most efficient option.
“The decision was taken in mutual agreement with Lamborghini Squadra Corse.
“ABT is pleased that Franck Perera will be present as a Lamborghini reserve driver during race week, ready to cover all eventualities.”
N24 stalwarts Konrad Motorsport have thus far named two drivers for its No. 27 Lamborghini, as American racer Danny Soufi is joined by DTM regular Maximilian Paul.
Similarly, only David Pittard and Christian Krognes are listed aboard the No. 34 Walkenhorst Motorsport Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, although the team has previously confirmed that Mattia Drudi and Nicki Thiim will also be tackling the event.
BMW and Ferrari, first and third in the IGTC manufacturers’ standings, are each represented by a single car from ROWE Racing and Realize Kondo Racing by Rinaldi, respectively.
Elsewhere on the entry list, DTM teammates Ben Doerr and Timo Glock will compete in a Doerr Motorsport McLaren Artura Trophy Evo in the SP8T category, joined by Phil Doerr and Nordschleife stalwart Volker Strycek.
IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge competitor and former GT World Challenge America powered by AWS regular Samantha Tan is set for her N24 debut aboard a Bulldog Racing Mini John Cooper Works Pro.
The Mini is entered into the SP3T class, where Tan will notably compete against the returning fan-favorite Dacia Logan from Ollis Garage Racing.
As previously reported, Robert Wickens will make his event debut in a Hyundai Elantra N TCR as part of a joint venture between Target Competition and Bryan Herta Autosport and will be joined by three drivers with a history in BHA’s IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge stable.
Mason Filippi, Bryson Morris and Michael Lewis, who were part of last year’s TCR-winning lineup for the Korean brand, return to join Wickens aboard the No. 831 car.
