Braun Quickest in Opening COTA Practice

Colin Braun was quickest in opening Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS practice for this weekend’s rounds at Circuit of The Americas.

The CrowdStrike by Riley driver recorded a best lap of 2:03.956 in his No. 04 Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo he shares with George Kurtz to edge out the fellow Pro-Am class No. 45 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R of Jan Heylen by 0.392 seconds.

Wright’s Type-991.2 Porsche driven by Elliott Skeer and Adam Adelson was third on the time charts, followed by the No. 33 Triarsi Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3 of Ryan Dalziel in fourth.

Bryan Sellers completed the top-five in the No. 08 DXDT Racing Mercedes, although the car brought out a session-ending red flag with co-driver Scott Smithson at the wheel.

The No. 93 Racers Edge Motorsports Acura NSX GT3 Evo22 of Mario Farnbacher and Ashton Harrison was the quickest of the Pro class entries in sixth, followed by the Pro-Am class No. 9 TR3 Racing Mercedes in seventh.

Conquest Racing’s Ferrari, the No. 53 MDK Motorsports Porsche and No. 19 Esses Racing Mercedes completed the top-ten in the 60-minute session.

The second and final practice session is scheduled to begin at 3:15 p.m. CT.
