Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Autosport’s Danny Formal and Kyle Marcelli will start this weekend’s pair of Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America races at Virginia International Raceway from the pole positions.
Formal reeled off a best lap of 1:47.782 in Qualifying 1, which was shortened due to an accident by the No. 46 Precision Performance Motorsports Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 of Tom Capizzi in Turn 14.
The Costa Rican’s lap time was 0.618 seconds clear of the Pro-Am class pole-sitting No. 42 NTE Sport Lamborghini of Luke Berkeley, who qualified second overall for Race 1.
Q2 saw Marcelli improve to a 1:46.300 benchmark lap time in the No. 1 WTR Andretti Lamborghini to edge out fellow Pro class competitor Giano Taurino in the No. 88 TR3 Racing machine by four-tenths.
Pro-Am qualifying top honors in Q2 went to the No. 41 Flying Lizard Motorsports Lamborghini of Marc Miller, was sixth overall.
Glenn McGee (No. 69 PPM) and Tyler Hoffman (No. 9 PPM) split the poles in the Am class, while the No. 50 Forte Racing by US RaceTronics Lamborghini of Mark Wilgus claimed poles for both races in LB Cup.
