The results from Saturday’s SprintX Race 1 are under review by Pirelli World Challenge officials due to a timing error that resulted in penalties to seven cars for not meeting the minimum pit lane delta.
The top three entries, and four of the top-five cars at the time were issued drive-through penalties, which series officials have now determined to potentially have been an error.
It’s understood the location of the timing beacon and cones at pit-out did not line up, causing the discrepancy between the timing screens from officials and teams.
Revised results and points are being calculated and are expected to be released by the end of today, likely after Race 2, which is set to get underway momentarily.
The No. 31 TR3 Racing Ferrari 488 GT3 of Daniel Mancinelli and Andrea Montermini was initially credited with the victory in Race 1, with the No. 2 CRP Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Ryan Dalziel and Daniel Morad the highest-placed of the penalty affected cars in sixth overall.
In addition to the CRP car, the No. 58 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R, No. 3 Cadillac Racing Cadillac ATS-V.R and No. 61 R Ferri Motorsport Ferrari 488 GT3 were among the cars that were initially penalized for not having allegedly met the 60-second pit lane delta minimum for GT Pro-Pro class cars.
PWC officials will also review the minimum driver change time from Saturday’s race, which had come under question from teams as well.
This afternoon’s second round will see a two-second “joker” applied to total pit stop length.
