Doriane Pin will replace Rahel Frey aboard Iron Lynx’s lineup for next weekend’s European Le Mans Series round at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with Frey due to focus on other championships within the team’s program for the rest of the season.
As shown on a 41-car entry list released on Wednesday, Pin will make her ELMS debut alongside Sarah Bovy and Michelle Gatting in the No. 83 Ferrari 488 GTE Evo.
Silver-rated Pin previously competed for the team during the FIA World Endurance Championship round at Spa, while she partnered with Frey, Gatting and Bovy to score a breakthrough class victory in the TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa last month.
Frey explained that she will step away from the ELMS campaign to instead focus on the remaining WEC and Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Endurance Cup races.
Gatting, Bovy and Frey are currently fifth in the GTE standings after three races. An Iron Lynx spokesperson told Sportscar365 that it has not yet been determined whether Pin will replace Frey for the remainder of the season.
“For [Pin] it will be an amazing possibility to quickly gain more experience, which is very important, and I know she will do very well,” Frey said.
“I’m happy to cheer them on, on-site, in a few days in Barcelona.
“For myself, I will turn my focus to finish the second half of the season on a high in WEC and GT World Challenge because, after our amazing class win at the 24-hour race in Spa, we are leading the championship and that’s very important.”
Rival Ferrari GTE squad JMW Motorsport has also altered its lineup ahead of the 4 Hours of Barcelona, with factory driver Miguel Molina brought in to replace Matthew Payne.
Rinaldi Racing, meanwhile, has brought in Bronze-rated Diego Alessi to pilot its No. 32 Ferrari, replacing Gabriele Lancieri.
In the LMP2 class, Jazeman Jaafar notably is no longer named as one of Team Virage’s drivers in the No. 51 Oreca 07 Gibson.
Jaafar had previously partnered Rob Hodes and Gabriel Aubry, who are listed for the Barcelona round, however the third driver slot remains vacant.
Pro-Am competitor Graff Racing will also not be competing in Spain, bringing the number of cars in LMP2 down to 16, with 41 cars entered in total.
In LMP3, Freddie Hunt will make his ELMS debut, driving the No. 10 Eurointernational Ligier JS P320 Nissan alongside Xavier Lloveras and Glenn van Berlo.
The son of 1976 Formula One world champion James Hunt has competed in LMP3 machinery for various teams since 2018, competing in the Michelin Le Mans Cup with RLR MSport, Muehlner Motorsport and Reiter Engineering.
Eurointernational has also added Louis Rousset to the lineup for its sister No. 11 car, while Tom van Rompuy returns to DKR Engineering’s No. 4 Duqueine D08 Nissan after missing the previous round at Monza.
